CAR SET UP
CAN
DO’S
- Use all threads to secure hood.All threads
cannot be welded to the frame or through the frame. 4 max.
- Bumpers can be chained. Chain size not to
exceed 1/4". Subject to official approval.
- Bumpers can be welded to bumper brackets
and brackets can be welded to the frame.
- Rear bumpers can be welded to the trunk.
- Shock absorber bumpers can be welded solid
or removed and replaced with bumper brackets.
- Bumpers can be trimmed.
- Fenders can be trimmed for additional tire
clearance not to exceed 8".
- Body can be removed and bolted solid to
the frame.
- Doors can be chained or welded. Weld
straps over door seams not to exceed 1/16” thick and 1” wide.
- Trunks can be welded solid. Welds only -
NO back up plates.
- Coil springs can be tack welded.
- Rear axles can have limiting chains
installed, but not tight.
- Stock gas tank or metal boat tank can be
used.
- Transmission cooling tanks can be used.
- Dash boards can be removed and replaced
with 3” o.d. cowl bar.
- Driver’s door and front passenger door can
be reinforced for driver protection.
- Motor mounts can be solid.
CAR SET UP
CANNOT
DO’S:
- No Chrysler Imperials – no Commercial
vehicles, no Hearses, no Compact vehicles.
- No full cages.
- No extra radiator cooling tanks. Radiator
stays in stock location.
- No hand held starting fluid.
- No after market rear ends - rear ends must
be consistent with make and model of car.
- No added reinforcement to bumper or bumper
brackets.
- No reinforcing or welding hood to fenders.
- No solid suspension.
- No switching of suspension parts from
original; i.e. coils to leaf springs.
- No off-road or implement tires. No foam
filled tires. All tires subject to approval.
- No reinforcement inside the car other than
as described in the accompanying diagram. Refer to diagram.
- No reinforcement pipe larger than 3" o.d.
- No reinforcement of any suspension parts,
steering components including wheels, tie rods, a-frames, etc.
- No reinforcement of any type on the
outside of the car.
- Body cannot be welded to the frame.
- No additional reinforcement of frames,
fenders, radiator core or core support.
- No reinforcement of tire rims.
- No full windshield screens.
- No side window bars. Hard tops accepted;
2” strap max top to bottom of window.
- No aftermarket fuel pumps.
- No trailer hitches or trailer hitch
assemblies allowed.
*Protest $150 fee on main event winner vehicle
only. Vehicle will be impounded for examination the following
morning at 9 AM.
CAR SET UP
MUST
DO’S:
- All glass, chrome, Pot metal handles,
upholstery, headliners, floor mats and rear seat must be
removed.
- Must have a driver lap seat belt.
Shoulder straps optional.
- Driver’s side door must be padded with
suitable padding for driver protection.
- Stock gas tank must be removed from stock
location.
- Stock gas tank must be reinstalled in the
center where the back seat used to be.
- Suitable boat gas tank or military type
gas can may be used in place of stock gas tank. Install in the
center where the rear seat used to be.
- All tanks and their installation are
subject to official approval.
- If vehicle is factory fuel-injected, with
fuel pump inside gas tank, a master kill switch must
be installed and readily and easily accessible to outside
emergency personnel. The switch needs to be clearly identified.
THIS COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!
- Batteries must be sealed or have
anti-spill caps and all batteries must be covered with suitable
material for driver protection.
- Batteries must be securely attached in a
battery holder and secured to the floor at least 4 ft. from
driver and gas tank.
- Driver’s door must have metal
reinforcement not to exceed past driver’s door compartment. For
driver protection only.
- Trunks must be empty. No spare tires or
extra weight.
- All cars must have a fire wall between the
driver and engine compartment.
- All gas lines must be routed in a safe
manner with proper fittings and clamps.
- Hoods must have at least a one 8" hole in
center for fire extinguisher access.
- All drivers’ doors must be painted a
contrasting color with word "STOP" or a "STOP" sign painted on
it. “DO IT”.
- All cars must have a large number plate on
top of the car with racing numbers on both sides of plate. Also
recommended on the sides of the car.
- Driver must have racing type helmet,
suitable eye protection, long pants and long sleeve shirt.
Gloves optional. Fire suit recommended but not required.
- Every pit must have a fire bottle readily
accessible.
