A. The
4‑H/FFA Livestock Division and
the following special rules specifically for Dairy Cattle.
B. All Dairy Cattle must be of Dairy Breeding and show Dairy Breed characteristics. No beef cross breds allowed. Registered animals and grade animals will be shown together according to breed and age.
C. Heifers over 30 months of age that have not
freshened may be exhibited in showmanship classes only.
D. The following practices or procedures are
considered unacceptable in the showing of Dairy Cattle and will be grounds for
disqualification.
Misrepresenting the age and/or milking status of the animal for the class in which it is shown.
2. Balancing the udder by any means other than by naturally produced milk in any or all quarters of the udder.
3. Striking the animal to cause swelling in a depressed area.
4. Surgery of any kind performed
to change the natural appearance of the
animal’s body, hide, or hair. Not included is the removal of warts, teats and
horns, clipping and dressing of hair and trimming of hooves.
5.
Administration of a drug of any kind or description, internally or externally, during the Fair,
except for treating an injury or sickness.
The Coordinator must be notified.
E. It is an established and
recommended practice for Dairy Cattle
exhibitors to wear white shirts and white pants in the show ring. (Black pants
may be worn under
special circumstances, with Director's permission) Club vests are optional.
F. No horns over 1 inch long.
G. All bulls must be born after August 15, 2008 to be shown in the 4-H/FFA Division.
H. All senior bulls, over six months of age, must wear
a permanent nose ring at any 4-H function.
I. All exhibitors must have a barrier at least 20”in
height behind their animals. This may be rope, chain, or straw bales, etc.
J. All animals must be double tied, with a halter and
neck rope at all times.
K. Animals must have appropriate papers, clearly
describing the animal, in the name of the exhibitor. Must have Livestock
Seasonal Pass.
L. Educational posters or exhibits are highly recommended.
SPECIAL GROOMING RULES: All Dairy Cattle must have complete
fitting prior to arrival at Fairgrounds or they will not be shown.
HOLSTIEN FEEDER STEER:
1. Steers will
be born after April 15, 2008.
Steers will weigh-in on Monday, April 20, 2009.
All entries
must weigh a minimum of 350 lbs.
Steers must be Holstein and show
Entries will be divided according to weights and Number of animals.
