SPECIFIC PYGMY GOAT REQUIREMENTS:
EXHIBITOR:
Exhibitor must know birth date
of goat and freshening date, if applicable.
ANIMAL:
A. ONLY PUREBRED GOATS WILL
BE PERMITTED. NO CROSSBREEDS!
B. Base date for age of animal
is April 20, 2009. Exhibitors are limited to showing no more than two (3) animals per lot
number. Only goats being shown will be housed in the barn.
C. No horned goats will be
permitted. Scurs will be tolerated if less then one (1) inch
long.
D. Microchip or Tattoos required
for goats 2 months and
older.
E. No bucks two months or over
will be shown: only those under TWO
months will be allowed to be penned and/or shown.
F. All Pygmy Goats should be
current on
vaccinations, including CDT within the last 6 months plus other
precautions as recommended by the
Project Coordinator, Superintendent or Veterinarian. Any goat with skin ailments
and/or parasites at check in will be removed from the fairgrounds immediately.
G. All goats including kids are
required to wear a
neck collar AT ALL TIMES. Collars should be gray, tan, brown or
black with matching leads for show.
H. All 4-H/FFA Pygmy Goats must
be fitted according to the National Pygmy Goat Association breed standards.
I. Goats must be
washed at designated racks only.
J. ALL GROOMING AT FAIR MUST BE
DONE BY
K. All pregnant does must be 138 days pregnant or less on the day of
check-in (4/20/2009). NO does 138
days or more pregnant may be housed or exhibited at Fair.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Pens:
individual pens will be assigned based on animal entries received by Fair entry
deadline, March 15, 2009. No extra pens will be allotted for additional
animals.
Barn day is
Mandatory (as scheduled).
A member of
each club must be present at herdsmanship
judging (a.m. and p.m.)
JUDGING/SHOW:
A. 4-H/FFA member MUST be
present at herdsmanship judging for full points (AM & PM judging)
B. ALL CLASSES WILL BE JUDGED BY
NATIONAL PYGMY GOAT ASSOCIATION STANDARDS AND THE JUDGE'S DECISION WILL BE
FINAL. NPGA RULES TO GOVERN AND TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER ALL
OTHERS.
SHOWMANSHIP:
A.
Each exhibitor
entering must enroll in
showmanship on the Fair entry form by March 15, 2009 using own exhibit in the
competition, and said exhibit must be
entered in breed judging.
B.
Showmanship
contest will be judged on the
exhibitor's ability in grooming, handling, knowledge, and showing the animal to its
best advantage. The Judge may also ask questions pertaining
to the project.
C. Large showmanship classes may
be divided into groups of no more than 10.
D. Champion showmanship winners
in the junior, intermediate, and senior divisions WILL participate in Small Stock Round Robin.
BREED SHOW:
A.
Unregistered
Does: open ONLY to Does, of any age,
not eligible for registration at any
time, or those does sold as unregistered without papers and not eligible for registration at a
later date.
B.
Prospect Doeling and Buckling Class: Open ONLY to kids, under two
months not registered. This class is open to all baby does and bucks regardless
of registration eligibility.
SPECIAL NOTE: Entries for Registered Baby Doe Kids, (3 mos. or younger), and not
yet registered prospect doeling and buckling kids,
will be taken on Fair entry day. Entry forms will be available at check-in. Entry Forms MUST be completed and turned in to
Superintendent by 8:00 p.m., April 20, 2009.
C.
Exhibitors in
registered Jr. Doe & Sr. Doe classes must bring Original NPGA
Registration Certificates. NO
photocopies accepted. Ownership papers
for all goats registered and unregistered are required.
D. Ownership papers must consist of one or more of the
following: NPGA Registration or NPGA Wether
Certificate, Hauling Paper, or dated Bill of Sale that contains seller's name,
address, phone number and birth date of goat. All papers MUST be in the name of
the member showing. All papers will be checked. Any animal without paper work
will be removed from Fairgrounds. Paperwork should also be available at the
show.
E. Jr. Does and Sr. Does will be
judged per NPGA
regulations with placing 1 to 10. Showmanship and all other
classes will be judged according to the Danish system (blue/red/white).

Classes, animals must be shown in individual breed classes and one animal may be

animals may be eligible for
sale at the Small Stock auction.

Goats sold at
auction must be weaned,
disbudded, and at least 6 weeks old by Fair check-in.
