Southwestern Fair Commission, Inc. is a non-profit
organization that leases the Pima County Fairgrounds from the County.
Southwestern Fair Commission has the following facilities to accommodate some of
the largest and diversified horse shows in the state of Arizona.
Indoor arena: 105ft x 240ft, footing consists of topsoil and sand to
accommodate any style of riding competition. Bleacher seating to accommodate
approximately 260 spectators. Lights, evaporative cooling, sound system,
climate controlled announcer booth, two climate controlled show offices and
bathrooms with showers. On the south side of the arena there are 137 stalls
constructed of pipe framing and plywood panels, the door fronts have double
doors and chain link on the top. On the north side there are 172 stalls of the
same construction, these stalls are all enclosed in the barn and have electric,
water and evaporative cooling, skylights and overhead lighting and a P. A
system.
Rental Fee: $600.00 per day
Ramada: 116ft x 200ft, a covered arena with the same footing as the
indoor. On both sides of the arena the area is 62ft x 240ft covered area can be
used for portable stalls, staging area or vendor sales.
Rental Fee: $600.00 per day. If you rent both the Indoor arena and the
Ramada at the same time the cost is $800.00 per day for both.
Manny’s Arena: 170 x 237, a rodeo arena complete with bucking chutes,
holding pens separate warm up arena, lights, announcer stand with P. A. system
and bleachers to accommodate 260 plus spectators. The footing consists of
topsoil and sand and can be prepped to accommodate any style of riding
competition.
Rental Fee: $500.00 per day
Jumper rings: We have 9 jumper rings, all have a single rail fence about 2ft
off the ground. 5 rings have a solid base and are topped with 3 to 4 in. of
sand, the remaining 4 rings are native soil topped with 3 to 4in. of sand. The
sizes range from 120 x 250 to 275 x 220. The footing in these arenas is
excellent for Hunter Jumpers, Dressage, Reining, Trail and Sport Horse. The
arenas are surrounded by trees, grass, shrubs and flowers This area has several
announcer stands, bleachers, a large climate controlled office equipped with
desk, chairs, phone lines and internet access and a covered party paddock /ramada.
Rental Fee: $300.00 per day
North Arenas: We have three arenas north of the main barn; the footing in
these arenas consists of top soil and sand mix and can be worked to accommodate
any style of riding.
#1 is 135 x 280 with a 36in two rail fence. #2 is 120 x 260 with a 36in two
rail fence. #3 is 140 x 235 with a 5ft chain link fence.
Rental Fee: 250.00 per day
Maintenance and use of restrooms; drags and watering of arenas is included in
the rental of the arenas.
There will be an additional charge if there is a change in the arenas from the
original setup as described above. Any additional charges can be negotiated.
Stalls: In addition to the stalls listed in the main barn we have A,
B, barns where the stalls are constructed of the same material as in the main
barn. The C barn I constructed of block and has single half doors. The total
number of stalls for the A, B, C barns is 274
Price of All Stalls: $9.00 per day
Portable Stalls: We have 240 complete with lights and roofs which are
constructed of steel pipe frames with white puck board inserts on the bottom and
sheet metal on top. The door fronts are puck board bottoms and pipe railing on
the top with ¾ single doors.
These stalls are virtually indestructible, save and easy to keep clean.
We have a total capacity of 810 stalls and can build approximately 30 turnout
pens 36 x 36
Feed & Bedding: We sell the feed and bedding on the facility. We do not
allow any outside deliveries.
We have over 400 RV spots available with full or partial hookups and two dump
areas.
Price: $20.00 per night
For trade show space we have four (4) buildings available depending on what
time of year your event is. We have events scheduled throughout the year. Log

Thurber Building: 30,200 square feet with a clear span of 119 feet.
Capacity is 2500 persons. Large load in doors; 8 Evaporative coolers; 5 gas
fired radiant heaters; Suspended fluorescent light with 20 skylights; Water and
Electric; Smooth finish cement. Restrooms are outside of the building.
Rental Price: $1,100.00 per day
Pima Hall: 99 X 223 Ft of useable space. Capacity is 2000 persons. Has
large loading door; 8 Evaporative Coolers; Suspended fluorescent lighting; water
& Electric with sealed asphalt flooring with 14’ cement strip between west and
east doors. Restrooms are outside of the building.
Rental Price: $800.00 per day
LaCantina: 2,050 square feet for the Club Room. 1,440 square feet
for the Banquet Room. Public Restrooms; Full service bar and fireplace; Fully
Carpeted; Outside Ramada area with concrete flooring.
Rental Price: $600.00 per day
Old Pueblo Hall: 61,000 Square feet. Capacity 6,000 persons. Two Large
load in doors; 5 Evaporative Coolers; Suspended fluorescent lighting; Electric
and Water; Floor is sealed asphalt. Restrooms are outside of the building.
Rental Price: $1,200.00 per day
We have a convience store and an Italian restaurant six miles to the South
of the fairgrounds. We are one mile off the I-10 freeway with easy on and off
access. We are six miles from the Rita Ranch shopping center. There is a Fry’s
grocery store, laundry, fast food, credit union, drug store and many other
stores within that area. We are twenty (20) minutes from the airport and major
hotels, such as the Comfort Suites Hotel, Best Western, Clarion, Embassy Suites
and the Hampton Inn. Less than 10 minutes away we have a Red Roof Inn, Holiday
Inn and several other motels.
On our facility we have a drag strip, oval track for racing and a Go-Kart
track. The schedules vary for each event. We host concerts, gun shows, dog
shows, horse shows and band camps. If you attend events in Tucson, the
estimated travel time is about 20-25 minutes away depending on traffic and time
of day. In Tucson there is a Convention Center, Gambling Casinos, Gas Light
Theater with live shows, Movie theaters etc..
